Khaberni - Jordan today welcomed the announcement by the President of the United States Donald Trump and the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif that the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran have reached an agreement to cease fire, which is a positive step towards ending the tensions and serious escalations in the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs confirmed in a statement Jordan's support for the efforts made by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to reach a permanent agreement addressing all the issues that have led to security and stability destabilization in the region over the past decades.
The ministry emphasized the importance of opening the Strait of Hormuz, and ensuring the freedom of international navigation without restrictions according to international law, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982.
The ministry stressed the need for the ceasefire to result in a comprehensive and sustainable calm that ensures an end to assaults and practices affecting the sovereignty, security, stability of states, threatening the safety of their citizens, and enhancing the security and stability of the region.
