Khaberni - Dr. Nadezhda Chernyshova, a specialist in internal diseases, stated that fatigue is not a specific symptom on its own, but represents a common condition that may accompany many diseases, even within normal limits.
The doctor explains that physiological fatigue is the body's response to daily stresses, whether physical, mental, or emotional. She says:
"When we immerse ourselves in an activity, we feel tired afterward, and this is normal."
However, there are signs that indicate that the fatigue is not just ordinary stress, it could be an indicator of chronic diseases, and the earlier they are detected, the easier it is to treat them.
Signs of serious fatigue:
Fatigue does not go away after rest or the weekend. If a person does not feel energized on Monday morning, this is considered a warning sign.
Difficulty in performing usual daily activities, such as visiting friends, shopping, exercising, or engaging in favorite hobbies, as these activities become distressing or repulsive.
Appearance of abnormal symptoms such as: unexplained pain, slight increase in temperature, shortness of breath, sleep disturbances, or depression.
Possible diseases behind chronic fatigue:
Endocrine disorders:
Hypothyroidism: Severe fatigue, feeling of coldness and difficulty moving limbs.
Diabetes: Persistent fatigue may appear even before the formal diagnosis.
Cardiovascular diseases:
Myocarditis, often after influenza, where the patient feels severe fatigue despite their temperature returning to normal.
Tumors
Chronic infections:
Such as cytomegalovirus or Epstein-Barr virus, where the fatigue is severe without clear symptoms.
Depression:
After ruling out organic diseases, fatigue may be linked to a psychological disorder requiring psychiatric consultation.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome:
Prolonged and persistent fatigue associated with emotional and physical stress, often among workaholics.
Main sign: Lack of energy after the weekend, possibly treated in clinics or sometimes with medication.
Iron-deficiency anemia:
Chronic fatigue appears as one of the symptoms of iron deficiency in the body.
Simple habits:
The habit of delaying getting up for five minutes is not harmful if it happens once or twice, but it becomes a problem when repeated more than five times.
