Khaberni - The White House said on Tuesday that President Donald Trump is aware of the request by Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to extend the deadline granted to Iran for two weeks before launching widespread strikes against it.
White House spokeswoman Carolane Levitt said in a statement, hours before the deadline expired, "The President has been made aware of the proposal and will issue a response."
Sharif said that diplomatic efforts aimed at a peaceful settlement of the Iran war are making steady, strong, and effective progress with the prospect of yielding tangible results in the near future.
Sharif urgently requested Trump to extend the deadline by two weeks and also asked the Iranians to open the Strait of Hormuz for a similar two-week period as a gesture of goodwill.
Sharif urged all warring parties to adhere to a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to enable diplomacy to achieve an end to the war, out of concern for long-term peace and stability in the region.
