Khaberni - An Axios report, citing four informed sources, stated that negotiations between the United States and Iran have made progress over the past twenty-four hours, despite the exclusion of reaching a ceasefire agreement before the deadline set by President Donald Trump.
The site quoted officials as saying that the chances of reaching an agreement before 8:00 PM Eastern Time (01:00 GMT) remain "weak".
An American official told Axios that the nature of the discussion inside the White House has undergone a significant shift; focus has shifted from whether an agreement can be reached to whether it can be completed before the deadline set for Tuesday evening.
An informed source said: "The mediators are pressing hard. The talks are serious. We will wait for the Iranian decision."
According to another source, discussions renewed regarding a potential face-to-face meeting between a US delegation led by Vice President J D Vance and an Iranian delegation.
On Tuesday, Trump warned that "a whole civilization will perish tonight", indicating that Iran still has enough time to surrender before the deadline set at 8:00 PM Washington time.
Trump issued this threat about 12 hours before the final deadline he set for Iran to agree to an agreement that includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz or facing punitive strikes.
Trump said on the social media platform "Truth Social", "A whole civilization will perish tonight, and it will never return". Trump added, "I don't want this to happen, but it most likely will."
However, Trump left the door open to the possibility of an extraordinary resolution, saying: "Perhaps something wonderful will happen."
