Khaberni - Israel is preparing for a major escalation in the war against Iran as the deadline set by the U.S. President Donald Trump, for Tehran comes to an end, which will expire next Wednesday at 3:00 AM, amidst its estimations that the negotiations will not lead to an agreement.
This comes as Washington and Tehran exchange messages through the U.S. envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, as well as through intensive diplomatic efforts from Egypt and Turkey. Reports also indicate that Pakistan and Qatar are involved in these efforts.
Nevertheless, diplomatic sources believe the region is on the brink of further escalation.
In this regard, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation ("Kan 11"), cited a foreign diplomat with close ties to Iran, stating that they "will not surrender to Trump’s ultimatum."
Israel believes that the U.S. President will give the "green light" for attacks on energy targets and civilian infrastructure in Iran, but it is waiting for final approval from the American administration before launching these attacks, according to "Kan 11".
As reported by "Yedioth Ahronoth" on its website ("Ynet"), Tel Aviv awaits the green light from Trump to launch strikes on energy and civil infrastructure targets in Iran, "but it does not rule out the possibility of reaching an agreement at the last moment that prevents escalation."
In this case, "there is fear that the United States might concede much of its demands, potentially leading to an agreement that allows Iran to recover from the strikes it has suffered," according to the report.
According to "Haaretz" on its website, assessments in Israel indicate that the talks between Iran and the United States "will explode," and both parties will fail to reach an agreement, according to an unnamed political source.
Nevertheless, Israel finds it difficult to assess the implications of what the report described as the explosion of negotiations on the continuation of the war, and whether Trump will allow a large-scale attack on civilian infrastructure in Iran, even if it significantly deteriorates the living standards of the Iranian people.
The report mentioned that Israel has a list of targets ready to be attacked, if Trump carries out his threat and orders an attack on energy facilities and infrastructure, while the Israeli political leadership closely monitors the discussions.
According to an Israeli political source, Trump is interested in ending the war, noting that extending the American deadline indicates his efforts to exhaust diplomatic channels.
The same source added that Israel is also preparing for a scenario in which the current Iranian leadership agrees to demonstrate flexibility and reach a ceasefire.
Israeli Channel 12 indicated an Israeli-American agreement on a "target bank" in Iran, including civil infrastructure and power stations, following the end of the deadline granted by Trump to Tehran.
Netanyahu, on Saturday, mentioned that Israel is ready to intensify attacks on Iran, when he declared its responsibility for the attack on petrochemical plants, presenting it as part of a step to inflict significant damage on Iran's economic power.
On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump believed there was a "good chance" of reaching an agreement with Iran on Monday, after renewing his threat to bomb infrastructure if access to the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened, and extended the deadline he gave to Tehran by 24 hours, announcing it would end at 8 PM Eastern Time, Tuesday, which corresponds to 3 AM on Wednesday local time.
Conversely, Iran threatened to close the Bab el-Mandeb Strait alongside the Strait of Hormuz if the U.S. President proceeds with his threats to attack the country's energy infrastructure.
