Russia The United States must abandon language of ultimatums with Iran

Khaberni - Russia expressed, on Sunday, its hope that the efforts aimed at calming the Iranian conflict would bear fruit.

It stated that the United States could contribute to this by "abandoning the language of ultimatums and returning the situation to the negotiating track".

This came in a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry following talks between Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi.

President Donald Trump had issued a direct threat to Iran, promising a military escalation targeting vital infrastructure, should Iran fail to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump, in a post on "Truth Social", stated, "Tuesday will be a day of power stations and a day of bridges, all in one day, in Iran", adding: "There will be nothing like it ever".

He urged Iran to open the strait, using a sharp tone, saying: "Open the strait... or you will live in hell - just wait and see".

This escalation comes within the framework of repeated warnings issued by Trump in recent days, relating to targeting vital facilities in Iran, against the backdrop of tensions associated with the movement in the Strait of Hormuz.
