Laughter is the Key to Health Amazing Benefits for Body and Mind

Khaberni- Dr. Valery Litvinov, the senior researcher in the department of "Chemistry and Biotechnologies" at Perm National University in Russia, said that laughter eases pain, reduces anxiety, and stimulates the immune system.
Laughter helps the human body to fight stress, resist viruses, and reduce the risk of developing malignant tumors.

The press service of Perm National University reported from Dr. Valery Litvinov, saying: "During laughter, the production of endorphins increases, which decreases the perception of pain and eases anxiety, while providing a feeling of mild euphoria. Simultaneously, levels of dopamine and serotonin rise; the former generates a sense of pleasure, while the latter contributes to psychological stability and helps manage stress. This balances mood and shifts the nervous system from a state of stress to a state of recovery".

Laughter also helps reduce levels of cortisol and adrenaline, whose increase can harm the heart, blood vessels, and metabolism.

The expert adds: "The immune system starts to function more efficiently, as the functions of immune cells that combat viruses and tumors improve. Metabolism stabilizes due to reduced glucocorticoid hormones, and the elasticity of blood vessels and the heart improves following the increase of pulse and dilation of vessels during laughter, followed by a phase of deep relaxation, maintaining normal blood pressure".
Other benefits of laughter include:

Respiratory system exercise: Deep inhalations and exhalations during laughter improve lung ventilation and blood oxygenation, beneficial for those with respiratory diseases.
Muscle relaxation: After a bout of laughter, the body's muscles relax for up to 45 minutes, reducing physical tension.
Enhancing social bonds: Shared laughter strengthens relationships, boosts team spirit, and creates a positive environment, supporting mental health.
