Khaberni - The Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority announced in a statement that a 25% increase in electricity and gas prices will take effect on Saturday.
The authority mentioned that "due to the increase in production and distribution costs, retail electricity prices have increased by 25%, and natural gas prices have been raised by 25% on average for residential consumers."
With these adjustments, the bill for a residential consumer who uses 100 kilowatt hours will rise to 323.8 Turkish Lira (approximately 6.29 euros).
The authority clarified that increases ranging from 5.8% to 24.8% will also take effect on Saturday for consumers in the industrial, commercial, and agricultural sectors.
The tightening of passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz by Iran since the US-Israeli attack on it on February 28 has led to a sharp rise in oil and gas prices in the global markets.
