Khaberni - The House of Representatives holds, on Sunday, a legislative session to discuss the draft law on education and human resources development for the year 2026. After its approval by its specialized committee (Education and Learning).
The Public Services and Transport Committee meets with the Car Rental Offices Syndicate to discuss the issues and problems facing the rental sector "under the current circumstances".
Last Wednesday, the Parliamentary Education and Learning Committee approved the draft law, chaired by Deputy Ibrahim Al-Qaralleh, who indicated that the approval of the draft law came after extensive discussions with the relevant parties and specialists, ensuring that the committee was keen to study the project comprehensively and to introduce the necessary amendments that enhance the quality of education and elevate the level of its outputs, in line with national orientations to update the educational sector and the requirements of development and the labor market.
The Minister of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research, Azmi Mahafaza, said that the draft law aims to develop the legislative framework regulating the educational process, enhance governance, and improve institutional performance efficiency in the ministry, which positively reflects on the quality of education and its outputs.
He added that the project contributes to enhancing the quality of the educational process in line with the requirements of national development, working to improve the outcomes of education and develop the capacities of human resources, in addition to enhancing the autonomy of higher education institutions.
According to the causes justifying the draft law, the main goal is to reorganize the education sector within a clear institutional framework, improve the quality of education according to modern standards, ensuring the continuity of free basic education and developing the capabilities of the national human resources.
The draft law came as a result of the need to unify the references responsible for the education and human resources development system for all educational stages, which supports the educational track and its development, and forms a new structure for the education system.
The draft law targets to raise the quality of education at all its stages, according to national and international standards, and to improve its outcomes, quality, and competitiveness, within basic priorities, standards, and pillars that enhance scientific research and innovation, and ensure sustainability in development and updating, in addition to continuing to guarantee the right to free education in basic stages.
The draft law also targets developing the skills of graduates, which enhances their competitiveness in the labor market through the alignment between education outputs and labor market and development needs, as well as enhancing the autonomy of Jordanian universities.
