Khaberni - The Super Intelligence department at Meta company is forming a specialized team for devices and is hiring a veteran engineer to lead it, in line with the company's relentless efforts to develop artificial intelligence-supported devices.
Meta is already well known for its smart glasses and virtual reality devices manufactured by its "Reality Labs" unit.
This new project is part of "Meta Super Intelligence Labs," a prominent superintelligence department that was announced last year, suggesting that "Meta" is considering developing other types of artificial intelligence devices, according to a report from "Business Insider" reviewed by "Al Arabiya Business".
This project, which has not yet been officially announced, has seen some engineers from "Reality Labs" move to the superintelligence labs to test prototypes of artificial intelligence department software on "Reality Labs" devices, where the two departments work closely together, according to what the site reported from a well-informed source.
Informed sources said that "Meta" appoints Roy Shaw, who was head of the hardware division at "Dreamer," a startup specializing in artificial intelligence agents, which "Meta" acquired its founding team last month, to lead the hardware department in the superintelligence labs.
Before joining "Dreamer," Shaw served as the Chief Operations Officer at "K-Scale," a robotics startup that was closed last year.
Shaw previously worked in the field of smart devices at ByteDance, the parent company of the TikTok app, where he led a lab that launched millions of units in China, according to his LinkedIn page. He also has managerial experience in the Chinese phone company "Xiaomi," Lenovo, and the internet giant Tencent.
This endeavor by "Meta" comes at a time when giant tech companies, such as "Open AI," are racing to develop a personal device equipped with artificial intelligence, going beyond just being a smartphone.
