A New Interface Inside Cars WhatsApp Tests an App for CarPlay

Khaberni - "WhatsApp" is working on developing an app specifically for the "Apple CarPlay" platform, in a move aimed at improving the in-car user experience, where the app is currently available to a limited number of testers through the beta version.

Until now, using "WhatsApp" in "CarPlay" primarily relied on the voice assistant Siri to send messages or make calls, without a true visual interface.

The new update offers a different experience, providing a standalone app that allows users to browse conversations and contacts directly from the car screen.

Conversations Display
When the app is activated, a list of recent conversations appears covering the user's activity over the past weeks, which helps in quick access to contacts.

However, opening conversations or reading messages in full is not possible, a deliberate decision to reduce distractions while driving and enhance safety.

Additional Features
The app also offers a dedicated tab for call logs, in addition to the ability to display favorite contacts, which facilitates starting calls quickly from inside the car.

The app also allows sending messages, but only through voice commands, to maintain a safe driving experience.

Simple Design
The app supports both light and dark modes and displays basic information such as profile pictures and contact names.

Despite adding a visual interface, the experience is still designed to be limited and simple, with a focus on core functionalities without distracting the driver.

Beta Version
The app is currently available through the TestFlight platform for iOS beta testers, which means that access to it is still limited.

Reports indicate that the official launch could occur in the coming weeks after completing tests and improving performance.

Expanding WhatsApp's Presence
This direction is part of a broader strategy to expand WhatsApp's presence beyond smartphones, as the company seeks to integrate its services into various environments, including cars and wearable devices.

As car entertainment systems continue to evolve, messaging applications like "WhatsApp" are set to play a larger role in providing a more integrated and safe communication experience while driving.
