Khaberni - The Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery in Kuwait was attacked by drones early Friday morning, which led to the outbreak of fires in operational units without recording any human injuries, according to what was reported by the Kuwaiti official news agency from the Petroleum Corporation.
The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation added that precautionary measures have been taken to ensure the safety of workers and protect the facilities.
The corporation confirmed that emergency and firefighting teams began implementing response plans and are working to contain the fires and prevent their spread.
It also mentioned that it continues to coordinate with the General Authority for the Environment to monitor and assess air quality in the areas surrounding the refinery and so far, no negative environmental impacts from the assault have been recorded, and stressed its full commitment to the highest standards of security and safety and continues to take all measures to ensure the continuity of operations and protection of lives and property.
The Kuwaiti army announced early Friday that its air defenses were countering missiles and drones launched towards its territory.
The Kuwaiti army stated on the X platform "The current Kuwaiti air defenses are countering missile attacks and hostile drones" adding that "the sounds of explosions... are the result of air defense systems intercepting hostile attacks."
