Khaberni - French President Emmanuel Macron described any military operation aimed at "liberating" the Strait of Hormuz by force as "unrealistic" today, Thursday.
During an official visit to South Korea, Macron told reporters: "Some people advocate for the idea of liberating the Strait of Hormuz by force through a military operation, a stance sometimes expressed by the United States, although it is inconsistent," adding that this option "was never the choice we supported because it is unrealistic."
The French President warned that this operation "would take forever and would expose anyone crossing the strait to risks from the Revolutionary Guards, but also from ballistic missiles."
In a related context, Macron reiterated his stance that reopening the Strait of Hormuz can only be achieved through consultation with Iran, and not through military confrontation.
It is worth mentioning that Macron's statements come at a time when the region is experiencing an unprecedented military escalation, with the United States and Israel waging a war on Iran since late February, causing the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime navigation, a passage through which about twenty percent of the world's oil flows, leading to a sharp increase in global energy prices.
