According to preliminary estimates from companies specialized in blockchain security and analysis, the losses could be significant.
CertiK company estimated that the stolen funds could amount to about 136 million dollars, while Arkham Analytics estimated the losses at about 285 million dollars.
If these figures are confirmed, the Drift breach could be classified as the largest digital currency theft since the beginning of the current year, according to data from the "Rekt" website, which specializes in tracking breach incidents in the crypto sector.
The identity of the party responsible for the attack has not yet been clarified, and the company has not issued any additional comments regarding the details of the incident.
This incident comes amid a noticeable increase in crimes involving breaches of cryptocurrency platforms, with security reports indicating that North Korea was among the main parties involved in such operations during the past year, realizing gains estimated at about two billion dollars, which are believed to be used in funding its nuclear programs and circumventing international sanctions.
