Khaberni - The unemployment rate among Jordanian males was 17.2% during the fourth quarter of 2025, a decrease of 1.0 percentage point compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, and a decrease of 0.8 percentage point from the preceding quarter.
According to general statistics, the unemployment rate among Jordanians decreased by 1.7 percentage points over the past three years compared with the same quarter of 2022, and the male unemployment rate decreased by 4.2 percentage points since 2021.
The unemployment rate among Jordanians (both males and females) aged 24 and above was 17.7% during the fourth quarter of 2025, with 13.6% for males and 31.3% for females, while the unemployment rate for non-Jordanians of the same age group was 5.6%, comprising 6.2% for males and 2.7% for females.
The total unemployment rate for the population (Jordanians and non-Jordanians) was 16.1% during the fourth quarter of 2025, a decrease of 0.8 percentage points from the fourth quarter of 2024 when it was 16.9%, and a 0.1 percentage point decrease from the third quarter of 2025. The unemployment rate among the male population (Jordanians and non-Jordanians) was 13.8% during the fourth quarter of 2025, with a decrease of 1.4 percentage points compared to the same quarter in 2024, and a 0.2 percentage point decrease from the third quarter of 2025. The unemployment rate among Jordanian males and females aged 15 years and older was 21.2% during the fourth quarter of 2025, a decrease of 0.1 percentage point from the fourth quarter of 2024, when it was 21.3%, and a 0.2 percentage point decrease from the third quarter of 2025, when it was 21.4%.
According to general statistics, the unemployment rate among Jordanian females was 34.8% during the fourth quarter of 2025, an increase of 2.6 percentage points compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, and an increase of 0.9 percentage points from the quarter before.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate for non-Jordanians aged 24 and above was 5.6%, including 6.2% for males and 2.7% for females, while the unemployment rate among the non-Jordanian population was 9.2% during the fourth quarter of 2025.
Unemployment among all residents
• The unemployment rate was 16.1% during the fourth quarter of 2025, a decrease of 0.8 percentage points from the fourth quarter of 2024, where it then reached 16.9%, and a decrease of 0.1 percentage point from the third quarter of 2025.
• The unemployment rate decreased by 3.9 percentage points over the past four years (compared to 2021).
• The unemployment rate among males was 13.8% during the fourth quarter of 2025, a decrease of 1.4 percentage points compared to the same quarter of 2024, and an increase of 0.2 percentage points from the third quarter of 2025.
• The unemployment rate among females was 25.0% during the fourth quarter of 2025, an increase of 1.6 percentage points compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, and a decrease of 2.0 percentage points from the previous quarter.
• The reduction in unemployment rates for females was 2.0 percentage points, while the rate increased by 0.2 percentage points among males compared to the third quarter of 2025.
Characteristics of the unemployed for all residents:
The unemployed were distributed according to educational level; 54.4% of the total unemployed had secondary education or higher, and 44.8% had an education level below secondary.
At the governorate level, the highest unemployment rate was recorded in Mafraq Governorate at 28.6%, and the lowest in Aqaba Governorate at 6.7%.
The unemployment rate among residents (Jordanians and non-Jordanians) aged 24 years and above was 12.5%, comprising 10.2% for males and 21.4% for females.
Characteristics of the employed for all residents:
The employment rate (proportion of employed to labor force) was 83.9% during the fourth quarter of 2025, comprising (86.2% for males compared to 75.0% for females).
The proportion of employed from the total population aged 23 years and above was 41.5% during the fourth quarter of 2025.
Of the employed males, 55.5% were within the age group of 20-39 years, while the proportion for females in the same age group was 72.8%.
The proportion of employed individuals with an education level below secondary was 48.9%, while those with a secondary education was 20.4%, and those with qualifications higher than secondary was 27.3%.
The percentage of salaried workers was 89.5%, consisting of (87.8% males compared to 97.2% females).
Data from the fourth quarter of 2025 showed an increase in the proportion of migrant workers to 45.8% of the total employed, compared to 43.4% during the same period in 2024, marking an increase of 2.4 percentage points.
The proportion of male employees in the public sector to the total employees in this sector was 78.6%, and the proportion of female employees was 21.4%.
The employment rate increased by 2.6 percentage points over three years (compared to the same quarter in 2022).
Labor force of all residents (employed and unemployed):
The revised economic participation rate for the population (labor force relative to the population aged 15 years and over) was 41.6% in the fourth quarter of 2025, compared to 39.8% in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The revised economic participation rate for males was 62.5% in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared to 59.9% for the fourth quarter of 2024.
The revised economic participation rate for females was 18.1% in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared to 17.5% in the fourth quarter of 2024, noting an increase of 0.6 percentage points between the two periods, given that the economic participation rate for females in Arab countries is 19.6%.
Results also showed a clear disparity in the distribution of the labor force according to education level and gender, with 50.6% of the female labor force having a bachelor's degree or higher compared to 16.6% among males.
