Meta launches smart glasses for prescription glasses users

Khaberni - Meta announced the launch of two new pairs of its AI-powered smart glasses, specifically aimed at users who rely on prescription glasses in their daily lives.
This is an expansion step by the company aiming to make this technology more practical and widespread.
The new glasses are named Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (second generation) and Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics (second generation), and are designed to support almost all types of prescription glasses, with improved comfort for prolonged use.

The glasses feature wide-range hinges, interchangeable nose pads, and adjustable temple tips by an optician, allowing them to adapt to the user's face shape for a customized fit.

The price of the glasses starts at $499 in the United States, and pre-orders are now open online, with broader availability starting from April 14 in eyewear stores and some international markets.

Meta focuses in these releases on a broad segment of users who rely on corrective lenses daily. While previous versions supported prescription lenses, the company has specifically designed these devices for this category.

Blayzer model: Features a rectangular frame, available in standard and large sizes.
Scriber model: Comes with a more rounded design, offering a different shape and varied comfort.

Besides the two new models, Meta has expanded its current smart glasses lineup, Ray-Ban Meta, with updated colors and new lens configurations, in a move to keep up with seasonal trends:

Skyler frame in glossy transparent with light-adaptive brown lenses (Transitions), which turn into sunglasses with dark lenses when exposed to UV rays.
Headliner frame in matte transparent peach with light-adaptive gray lenses.
Wayfarer frame in glossy transparent gray with light-adaptive sapphire lenses.

Oakley Meta glasses also received similar updates, which include new options:

Vanguard Black edition with black "Prizm" lenses (Prizm Black).
Vanguard White edition with pink gold "Prizm" lenses (Prizm Rose Gold).
Additional options include lenses equipped with color transition technology, and various sport configurations for Vanguard and HSTN models.

The glasses come with software updates based on voice input and camera, aiming to make interactions easier and freer of hands, including:

Nutrition tracking: Users can record their meals by speaking or taking a quick photo, where Meta's smart assistant extracts nutritional information and adds it to the food log, generating insights and analytics over time.
Summarizing "WhatsApp" and retrieving information: AI-powered features that allow users to access essential information more easily.
Neural Handwriting: A feature still under development with limited details available.

Meta described these glasses as "the most comfortable it has ever designed," made for wearing all day, indicating the company's focus on making smart glasses a practical option for everyday life, not just a tool for early adopters of technology.
