Khaberni - The Egyptian Ministry of Labor issued mandatory instructions for companies recruiting Egyptian labor to work abroad, stipulating a ban on Egyptian women traveling for work in a particular set of professions.
The ministerial decision came within the framework of regulating the labor market and ensuring job opportunities comply with the professional standards in force, according to the ministry.
The decision included a ban on Egyptian women working in the following jobs:
- Domestic work: This includes all activities performed inside the employer's home such as (home care, cook, house manager, personal assistant, home nurse).
Cafes and coffee shop jobs: This includes professions like (barista, waiter/waitress, beverage and food server, counter worker) and other similar professions.
The ministry clarified that this step was based on reports monitored by the Labor Representation Office in Riyadh, emphasizing that the goal is to protect the rights and dignity of Egyptian female workers and regulate the labor market abroad.
The ministry stressed that all labor recruitment companies are obliged to implement the decision, confirming that transactions of companies that violate the new instructions will be stopped or rejected.
