FIFA faces technical difficulties in selling tickets for the 2026 World Cup

Khaberni -  It appears that the Fédération Internationale de Football Association "FIFA" is facing technical difficulties when resuming the sale of tickets for the 2026 World Cup today, Wednesday, following the completion of the list of 48 participating teams in the tournament.

FIFA has not disclosed the matches or the available price categories yet. Some individuals who pressed what FIFA called the "last-minute sale stage" at the start of the sales at 11 AM Eastern Time were directed to the "late qualification ticket sale phase" waiting list, designated for fans of the six teams that qualified on Tuesday.

It seems that the FIFA website experienced long waiting periods for purchasing tickets for the 2026 World Cup, where people who joined the waiting list since the beginning waited for up to 90 minutes.

FIFA did not provide an explanation for the malfunction in the links, but announced around noon that they were functioning correctly.

It announced that not all remaining tickets for the 104 matches of the tournament, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, 2026, were put on sale, indicating that additional tickets will be released gradually.

This is the fifth phase of the ticket sale, after a Visa cardholders' presale from September 10 to 19, an early draw from October 27 to 31, a random draw from December 11, 2025, to January 13, and an unscheduled release for 48 hours in late February.

FIFA clarified that this phase, which will continue throughout the tournament, is the first of its kind to allow the purchase of a specific seat instead of requesting a ticket within a certain category.

FIFA relies on dynamic pricing for the tournament, which will take place in 11 American cities, along with three cities in Mexico, and two in Canada.

During the sale phase that lasted a whole month after the December 5 draw, ticket prices ranged from $140 to $8680.

After receiving complaints, FIFA announced the provision of $60 tickets for each participating national association, designated for their most loyal fans, an amount that is likely to range between 400 and 700 tickets per team for each match.
