Khaberni - The U.S. Central Command announced that daily operations and training are ongoing for about 3,500 sailors and marines on board the USS Tripoli, within its area of responsibility.
It confirmed that the forces maintain "maximum combat readiness" with ongoing training and preparedness for operations, amid military escalations in the region.
The Central Command had announced on March 28 the arrival of the warship "USS Tripoli" to the Middle East, with about 3,500 marines on board, a move that enhances the U.S. military presence.
It clarified, in a post on the "X" platform, that the ship arrived in its area of responsibility on March 27, at a time when the American Department of War is considering the next military options amid the escalation with Iran.
CNN reported that the Pentagon plans to deploy an exploratory unit of marines in the region, which are units used in missions including wide-ranging evacuations, amphibious operations, landings and attacks, as well as conducting ground and air combat operations.
A source informed the network that the presence of this unit provides the American military leaders with additional options to deal with a wide range of potential scenarios.
