Arab Interior Ministers Condemn Iranian Provocations Aimed at Destabilizing Arab Countries

Khaberni  - Interior Minister, Mazen Al-Faraya, along with ministers of interior from Arab countries, Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, and the Arab Police Sports Union, participated in the 43rd session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers held on Wednesday, via video and audio communication technology.

The session was inaugurated by the Saudi Interior Minister, the Honorary President of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef Al Saud. The opening session was addressed by the Secretary-General of the Council, Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Koman.

The Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed El-Hajjar, received the presidency of the current session of the Council, from his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Fahd Yousuf Al-Sabah.

During the session, the Ministerial Council discussed a number of important topics and a series of security issues and challenges, which included a report by the Secretary-General on the activities of the General Secretariat between the 42nd (2025) and 43rd (2026) sessions of the Council, and a report by the President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences on the university activities between the sessions.

The Council also discussed a project for a second interim plan for the developed Arab strategy to combat terrorism, the recommendations issued by conferences and meetings organized by the General Secretariat between the previous and current sessions of the Council, and the outcomes of joint meetings with Arab and international entities, in addition to approving a set of decisions and recommendations related to joint Arab security cooperation and the work of the General Secretariat of the Council.

The Council of Arab Interior Ministers approved the appointment of Brigadier Ayman Ibrahim Al-Sarayrah as the Director of the Arab Office for Drug Affairs and Crime for a term of three years, starting from the first of May 2026.

Furthermore, the Council of Arab Interior Ministers issued a statement regarding the brutal Iranian aggression against Arab countries, which severely condemned the Iranian attacks on the Gulf states, Jordan, and Iraq, which constitute a violation of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security, and denounced the deliberate Iranian targeting of civilian objects and civil infrastructure.

The Council denounced the repeated Iranian provocations and its practices aimed at destabilizing security and stability in several Arab countries, in addition to the Council’s stance alongside the Arab nations facing the ongoing Iranian assaults and their legitimate right to self-defense, as well as expressing its rejection of Iran’s continued financing and arming of its affiliated militias in several Arab countries.

The Council also affirmed its admiration for the heroic performance of the Arab armed forces, security forces, and civil defense agencies (civil defense) in dealing with these attacks and greatly appreciated their sacrifices.

The statement concluded with a condemnation of Israel's illegal occupation of Palestinian and Arab territories, its expansionist policies in the region, in addition to asserting its support for the security, stability, and territorial integrity of Lebanon and the activation of the Lebanese state’s sovereignty over its entire territory.
