Khaberni - The Spanish Football Federation, yesterday, condemned the racist and offensive chants against Muslims that were issued by some fans during the friendly match that brought together the Spanish team with its Egyptian counterpart at the "Cornella El Prat" stadium as part of the preparations for both teams for the 2026 World Cup.
The Spanish Federation published a statement via its account on the "X" platform, which stated, "The Royal Spanish Football Federation joins the football message against racism, and condemns any act of violence in stadiums."
About 10 minutes after the beginning of the first half, a segment of the audience began chanting an offensive slogan repeated several times, which went "Anyone who doesn't jump is a Muslim."
Warning
Midway through the match, a warning message was displayed on the electronic screen at the stadium that read, "We remind that the legislation related to the prevention of violence in sports prohibits and punishes active participation in acts of violence, xenophobia, homophobia, or racism."
Through the loudspeakers, attendees were asked to refrain from repeating the hostile and offensive chants, but a few minutes after the start of the second half, the same chant was repeated.
A large part of the audience responded to this with jeers, and the warning was repeated again through the loudspeakers.
The match ended in a goalless draw, and featured a standout performance by the Egyptian goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir, who saved his goal from several certain goals.
