Khaberni - The Jordanian Armed Forces thwarted ten large-scale drug smuggling attempts at dawn on Wednesday on both the northern and western fronts of the kingdom.
The Eastern Military Region, on its northern front, managed to thwart 9 drug smuggling attempts, which were loaded with large quantities of drugs via electronically guided balloons launched simultaneously, exploiting the prevailing weather conditions to scatter the efforts of the border guard units and evade monitoring.
The Southern Military Region on its western front thwarted a smuggling attempt via a drone, loaded with about one hundred kilograms of hashish.
The border guard units in the eastern and southern regions, through accurate monitoring and surveillance and in coordination with the military security forces and the Anti-Narcotics Administration, were able to thwart all the attempts at various locations, dealing with and intercepting them along with their load inside Jordanian territory, and transferring the seized items to the relevant authorities for necessary actions.
