Khaberni - On Tuesday, Meta launched two new smart glasses, Ray-Ban models with prescription lenses, thereby expanding its range of products in a field that is considered one of the most successful areas in the race for developing devices powered by artificial intelligence.
The two new glasses, available for pre-order in the United States starting at $499, provide broader options for prescription glasses users.
And Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, said last January that "billions of people wear glasses or contact lenses to correct their vision.
The company said the two new glasses - "Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics" and "Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics" - will be available at optician stores in the United States and some select international markets starting April 14, according to "Reuters".
Meta plans to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in its pursuit of "super personal intelligence," where advanced devices, among other features, will offer artificial intelligence benefits to individual users.
Meta develops its smart glasses in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, the owner of the Ray-Ban trademark.
Last year, Meta launched the Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses at a price of $799, which are the company’s first model equipped with an integrated display, allowing users to read messages, follow navigation directions, and interact with AI services without needing to use a phone.
However, earlier this year, Meta delayed their global rollout, citing a shortage of supplies and high demand.
