Khaberni - Florida's Republican Governor, Ron DeSantis, signed a law on Monday, designating Palm Beach International Airport after President Donald Trump, marking the latest addition to a series of buildings, institutions, government programs, warships, and currency bearing the name of the American president.
The decision to rename the airport after Trump follows Florida's approval last year of a plan to donate a property in downtown Miami for the Trump Presidential Library site. The president, originally from New York, moved to Florida in 2019.
Before moving, Trump lived in an upper-floor apartment in Trump Tower, but since then has made his Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach his primary residence.
Before the name change can be sanctioned, a formal request must be submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration, which then needs to implement the change in various databases of aviation maps and navigation, and the airport signage must also be changed.
Last week, Representative Brian Mast introduced a bill to change the airport’s three-letter code from "PPI" to "DJT," referring to the initials of Trump's name.
Trump's Name
Last week, the U.S. Treasury Department announced that starting this summer, banknotes will bear Trump's signature, marking the first time a sitting president has signed American currency.
Trump's name was also added to a planned class of Navy warships, a visa program for wealthy foreigners, a government website for prescribed drugs, and federal savings accounts for children.
