Khaberni - Media reports confirmed that the Argentine national team received a severe blow off the green field, after the justice in Argentina decided to open a complex legal case involving the Argentine Football Association, in a case related to financial suspicions and accusations of tax fraud.
Spanish newspaper AS reported, quoting Argentine sources, that the court ruled to impose seizure and legal treatment against the association president Claudio Tapia, along with the treasurer Pablo Toviggino, against the background of investigations indicating the existence of violations linked to the non-payment of substantial financial dues.
The newspaper explained that according to the details of the case, the judiciary is investigating the suspicion of illicit appropriation of funds meant for social security, which prompted the competent authorities to take legal action against the same entity, in a precedent that puts the association under great pressure during one of its most sensitive periods.
It added: "The decision included imposing a financial seizure on the officials valued at hundreds of millions of Argentine pesos, while restrictions were placed on Tapia's movements, where he will not be able to leave the country except in cases related to his official duties and with prior approval."
It continued: "The roots of the case go back to an official complaint about massive financial arrears reaching billions of pesos, which opened the door to an extensive investigation around the way resources are managed inside the Argentine Football Association."
In the midst of these developments, Tapia categorically denied committing any violations during his presidency, assuring that his administration complied with the laws, coinciding with nine years since he took over the leadership of the association.
This case puts the future of the current administration under scrutiny, at a time when the sports community in Argentina is anticipating the results of the investigations, amidst concerns about possible repercussions on the stability of Argentine football in the upcoming stage, especially as the Argentine national team is preparing to defend its World Cup title next summer.
