Khaberni - The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation announced on Tuesday dawn that one of its oil tankers was subjected to direct targeting due to an "Iranian aggression," while it was in Dubai Port in the UAE, resulting in a fire on board.
The statement from the corporation stated: "The giant Kuwaiti crude oil tanker Al-Salmi was directly targeted by the sinful Iranian aggression while it was located in the anchoring area of Dubai Port in the UAE".
It was clarified that the tanker "was fully loaded at the time of the incident," noting that "the assault resulted in material damage to the ship's hull and a fire on board, with the possibility of an oil spill in the surrounding waters".
The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation confirmed that there were no human injuries due to the incident, noting that the relevant authorities are continuing to work on assessing the extent of the damages accurately.
It is worth mentioning that the British Maritime Trade Operations had announced on Monday evening that an unidentified projectile had hit an oil tanker about 31 nautical miles northwest of Dubai in the UAE, resulting in a fire on board.
This comes amid the serious military escalation in the region, since the outbreak of the American-Israeli war on Iran on February 28, and its repercussions have extended to the Gulf countries, which are subjected to Iranian attacks with missiles and drones targeting American bases and civilian sites, including ports, airports, oil facilities, and military and commercial vessels, leading to varying material damages with no significant human losses, according to official statements.
