Egypt Judicial sentences against the countrys largest electronic fraud network

Khaberni - The Cairo Economic Criminal Court issued a sentence punishing the defendants in the FBC platform case with 5 years of imprisonment and financial fines amounting to millions of pounds, along with obliging the defendants to return the misappropriated amounts to the victims.

The court convicted the defendants of fraud, electronic deception, and appropriation of citizens’ money, through promoting fictitious investment opportunities via the online platform, alleging substantial profits in exchange for performing simple tasks online.

The investigations revealed that the defendants were involved in an organized fraud operation targeting thousands of citizens, where the platform offered 9 subscription levels starting from 900 pounds up to 2.8 million pounds, in exchange for promises of fantastical profits.

The FBC platform case is one of the biggest electronic fraud operations witnessed in Egypt in recent years, which started its activity as an electronic application that promotes "easy investment" and "daily profits," taking advantage of the citizens' desire for quick wealth, especially under economic conditions.

According to the public prosecution’s investigations, hundreds of citizens (with reports stating up to 537 complaints) filed complaints against the platform, which appropriated millions of pounds.

Reports indicated that the total losses at the regional level exceeded hundreds of millions, with larger unconfirmed claims officially reaching billions of dollars internationally.

The platform served as a front for an international criminal organization, led by foreign elements including Chinese and a Japanese, according to some reports, in cooperation with local Egyptian elements who managed operations and communicated with the victims through social media.

The Ministry of Interior successfully arrested several defendants in February 2025, and the prosecution referred at least 20 defendants to the Economic Court in July 2025.
