Boxing improves cardiovascular health quickly

Khaberni - A study conducted by scientists from the University of Texas at El Paso has shown that practicing boxing exercises for only six weeks can contribute to a significant reduction in blood pressure levels in young people.
The study included 25 young men with an average age of about 25 years, who were suffering from high blood pressure or stage one hypertension. The participants were divided into two groups: the first group practiced boxing exercises three times a week through three-minute intermittent rounds, while the second group practiced stretching and balancing exercises.

After six weeks, the researchers observed a significant decrease in blood pressure in the boxing group, with an average reduction of 16 mmHg systolic and about 10 mmHg diastolic. The vascular health of this group also improved, as their blood vessels became more flexible and responsive to changes in blood flow.
According to the researchers, these results are comparable, and sometimes even surpass, the effectiveness of some drug treatments for high blood pressure.

The scientists indicated that high blood pressure often develops without clear symptoms, especially in young people, confirming that simple and accessible physical activities, such as boxing exercises, can serve as an effective alternative to early resort to medications.

Health experts confirm that regular exercise contributes to strengthening the heart muscle and the walls of blood vessels, as well as helps in lowering levels of harmful cholesterol, which reduces the risks of arterial blockage and high blood pressure.
