Ajloun 92 percent of the average rainfall in Ajloun

Khaberni - Engineer Saitan Al-Sarhan, the Director of Agriculture in Ajloun, said that the governorate recorded, during the last 24 hours, rainfall amounts ranging between 16 and 33 mm, distributed across various regions, where Ajloun reached 33 mm, Anjara 31 mm, and Kufranja 28 mm, while other areas recorded varying amounts.
He added that the cumulative rainfall in the governorate since the beginning of the rainy season reached about 539.9 mm, constituting 92.4 percent of the annual average total of 584 mm, indicating that several areas are close to achieving their annual rates, which enhances the chances of a successful agricultural season.
He explained that these precipitations directly contribute to improving soil moisture and supporting the growth of fruit trees and field crops, in addition to enhancing water reserves, which positively reflects on various agricultural activities in the governorate.
Al-Sarhan pointed out that the self-sufficiency rate of agricultural crops reaches 61 percent according to the ministry's estimates, and there is a noticeable improvement in the agricultural sector, which contributed about 9 percent of the gross domestic product last year.
He mentioned that the current indicators promise a good agricultural season, which will positively reflect on various crops, in addition to improving the conditions of animal wealth due to the abundance of plant cover and the reduction of production costs for livestock breeders.
Al-Sarhan confirmed that continuing rainfalls in the coming period will strengthen these positive indicators, urging farmers to take advantage of the current season and follow agricultural guidelines to maintain the productivity of their crops.
In turn, farmers expressed optimism about the current rainy season, confirming that the rainfalls since the beginning of the season have positively reflected on various agricultural activities.
Farmer Ahmad Bani Nasr said that the current season is one of the good seasons compared to previous years, noting that the abundance of rain will contribute to improving the growth of trees and field crops, especially wheat and barley, which may herald a plentiful harvest.
For his part, Farmer Khaled Al-Qudah explained that continuous rainfall reduces the costs of agricultural production especially in terms of irrigation, noting a clear improvement in natural pastures, which positively reflects on livestock breeders.
Al-Qudah emphasized that the current season enhances hopes for high productivity under suitable climatic conditions, stressing the importance of exploiting these conditions by expanding agriculture and investing in underutilized lands to support food security.
