Spain Closes Its Airspace to US Aircraft Involved in the Iran War

Khaberni  - The Spanish government has closed its airspace to all aircraft associated with the US-Israeli war on Iran, and prevented Washington from launching from its bases to attack Iran.

Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles told reporters today, Monday, that "the use of bases and the use of Spanish airspace is of course not allowed in operations related to the war in Iran," thus confirming a report published by the Spanish newspaper "El País".

In a radio interview broadcast today, Monday, Carlos Cuervo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Spain, said that his country decided to close the Spanish airspace to all aircraft associated with the US-Israeli war on Iran.

The minister added that this measure "comes as part of the Spanish government's decision not to participate in or support this war, which was started unilaterally and violates international law."

Earlier, the "El País" newspaper and the Spanish news agency "Europa Press" reported, citing the government, that the ban not only includes flights departing from Spanish territory, but also the flying of military aircraft taking off from bases in the United Kingdom or France.

Sanchez Criticizes the War

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, a Socialist politician, has prohibited the United States from using the Rota and Morón military bases for operations against Iran following the onset of the war.

Spain and the United States have jointly managed these two bases, located in Andalusia in the southern part of the country, for decades.

Sanchez described the war in the Middle East a few days ago as "senseless, brutal, and illegitimate," asserting that it involves a scenario "much worse" than the Iraq invasion in 2003.
