The government Jordans import of Iraqi oil is not for free

Khaberni - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources confirmed that the importation of Iraqi oil by the Kingdom "is not free" and is conducted according to detailed trade agreements that serve as advanced models for economic cooperation between the two countries, serving mutual interests and promoting regional integration.
The ministry told the Jordanian News Agency (Petra) that Jordan purchases Kirkuk crude oil at the monthly Brent crude rate, discounted by $16 per barrel, which includes the following: $3.4 as a quality differential favoring the Jordanian Petroleum Refinery, $0.09 for inspection fees, $7.75 for the transportation cost of crude oil from Iraq to the refinery site, and $4.76 as savings realized for the Jordanian treasury.
The ministry indicated that Jordan commits to providing tankers for transporting Iraqi crude oil, with half of these tankers being Iraqi and the other half Jordanian; this arrangement provides job opportunities for hundreds of workers.
The ministry explained that the cooperation between the two countries brings many benefits to the Iraqi side, as Iraqi goods arriving through the Aqaba port are exempted from 75% of the handling fees, with the Iraqi importer paying only 25%, in addition to Jordan providing the Iraqi Rutba region with electricity in the first phase of the interconnection project with a capacity of 40 megawatts and a voltage of 132 kV.
