Khaberni - The operations body in the Syrian Army announced on Monday that a widespread attack with several drones targeted multiple army bases near the border with Iraq early this morning.
The body confirmed that the army units managed to confront most of the drones and shot them down.
The body explained that it is considering appropriate options to respond with the aim of neutralizing any threat and preventing any assault on Syrian territory.
The Iran war broke out on February 28, 2026, following extensive airstrikes by the United States and Israel, targeting vital and military facilities and command centers in Tehran and several other cities, leading to the death of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on the first day, along with several senior officials and leaders, including the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani, and prominent leaders in the Revolutionary Guard.
In response, Iran launched an operation by firing hundreds of missiles and drones towards Israel and countries in the region, along with closing the Strait of Hormuz, causing a spike in energy prices.
The war extended to Lebanon on March 2, after Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel following the assassination of Ali Khamenei, leading to a broad aerial retaliation and a ground incursion into the south by Israel.
