Khaberni - Media reports revealed that coach Walid Regragui is a candidate to be present at the upcoming World Cup with an unexpected team.
Reports have stated that the former Moroccan national team coach has become the leading candidate to coach the Saudi national team, indicating that a decision could be issued in the coming days.
It was noted that Walid Regragui is approximately 80% close to leading "the Green", with the possibility of him heading the technical staff during the upcoming World Cup competitions if the contract with the current coach, Hervé Renard, is terminated.
It added "This nomination came after the disappointing results recently recorded by the Saudi national team, including a significant loss to the Egyptian team with four goals unanswered, which prompted the Saudi Football Federation to consider possible changes to restore the team's stability before international events".
It added "Among the other names being considered for the role are the Spaniard Xavi Hernandez, the Italian Roberto De Zerbi, and the Portuguese Ruben Amorim, in a list being studied by the Saudi Federation before making a final decision".
It continued "If the Saudi national team suffers a significant loss against Serbia, then changing the technical leadership will become the likeliest option, with high expectations that Regragui would be the first choice to lead 'the Green' towards upcoming events including the 2026 World Cup".
