Khaberni - The Egyptian parliament member Sohair Al-Qadi, representing the eastern province, suffered a sudden heart attack today while she was inside the headquarters of the House of Representatives.
Parliamentary sources said that the deputy had a health crisis while she was in parliament, and immediate first aid was provided to her by the medical team at the council, before she was transported by ambulance to one of the major hospitals in Cairo to receive the necessary medical care.
The sources confirmed that the deputy's condition is currently stable under medical observation, while the council's leaders communicated with her family to check on her.
Deputy Sohair Al-Qadi is one of the female members in the Egyptian House of Representatives and represents the eastern province within the Eastern Delta list, known for her parliamentary activity in the fields of public services and local development, and she is among the active female faces in the current session of the council.
This incident comes amid the great pressures faced by the deputies during parliamentary sessions and committees, especially in light of the intensive legislative schedule.
The Egyptian House of Representatives currently consists of 596 members, according to the constitution and the House of Representatives law, including 568 elected deputies by direct secret general voting, and 28 deputies appointed by the president, representing no more than 5% of the total members, and there are 160 female deputies, approximately 26.8% to 27% of the total members of the council.
