Egypt Warning of a very severe new storm

Khaberni - An Egyptian official warned of an approaching new storm after the country experienced a storm last weekend that disrupted work in government services and schools, amid a state of alert among state agencies.

Dr. Mohamed Ali Fahim, head of the Climate Change Information Center at the Ministry of Agriculture, said that the upcoming weather condition this week will be "very violent" and will hit the country for 72 hours.

Fahim explained that the storm wave begins on the evening of next Tuesday and continues until the end of Thursday.

He confirmed that "what awaits the country is not just rain, but a complete scenario of heavy thunderstorms, floods, strong winds, and sharp night cold," emphasizing the need for real preparedness.

He noted that the start of the weather condition on Tuesday afternoon will bring rain to Siwa and Matrouh in western Egypt, and in the evening it will extend to include the northern coast, canal cities, northern Upper Egypt, and Sinai, with the rain being moderate to heavy and occasionally thunderous.

The peak of the weather condition "the most dangerous day" will be on Wednesday, with the country experiencing very heavy thunderous rain throughout most of the Republic, and the highest severity in Matrouh and Alexandria, with the possibility of hail falling in the Delta, the Canal, and Sinai.

He warned of expected floods in the New Valley and the oases and south of Upper Egypt, alongside strong winds that stir sand and dust with a sharp drop in nighttime temperatures.

According to Fahim, Thursday, April 2nd, will see the continuation of rain over most areas, but with less intensity, focusing on the northern coast, Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt with noticeable nighttime cold.

The severe weather condition ends, morning on Friday, with the gradual recession of the rains, while continuing to fall lightly to moderately in southern Upper Egypt (Qena - Luxor - southern Sohag).

Fahim emphasized that this weather condition is one of the strongest instability waves this season, calling for urgent preventive measures to reduce its potential effects.
