Khaberni - The Cabinet, in its session held on Sunday chaired by Prime Minister Jaffer Hassan, decided to ban the export of pharmaceutical industry production inputs to ensure the availability of raw materials necessary for producing several goods, most importantly medicines, in light of the current situation in the region.
The representative of the therapeutic industries and medical supplies sector at the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Fadi Al-Atrash, confirmed that the Jordanian pharmaceutical industry is a fundamental pillar in achieving and supporting national pharmaceutical security, and enhancing the Kingdom’s strategic stockpile of human medicines.
Al-Atrash stated that the sector continues to support national efforts at this stage, and is working in coordination with official entities to ensure the availability of medicine for citizens in sufficient quantities and at stable prices, enhancing the health system's immunity and its ability to face various conditions.
He added that the Jordanian pharmaceutical industry is a strategic industry, as it contributes to achieving national pharmaceutical security under all circumstances, and has proven its strength and safety during the Coronavirus pandemic, as the sector was able to operate at full capacity and energy to enhance the Kingdom's stockpile of human medicines and sanitization supplies, despite the challenges that faced global supply chains.
He emphasized that the sector operates with a flexible production capacity that can be expanded, giving it the ability to respond quickly to any increase in demand, noting that local companies adhere to the highest international standards of quality and control, which enhances the confidence of local and international markets in Jordanian medicine.
