Khaberni - The Latin Patriarchy in Jerusalem confirmed that the Israeli police had, on Sunday, prevented Cardinal Patriarch Pierbattista Pizzaballa from holding Palm Sunday Mass at the Church of the Resurrection, noting that this was the first time "in centuries".
The Patriarchy stated in a release, "This morning, the Israeli police prevented the Latin Patriarch in Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, and the Custodian of the Holy Land, Francesco Patton, from entering the church in Jerusalem while they were on their way to celebrate Palm Sunday Mass".
It added, "As a result, for the first time in centuries, church leaders were prevented from holding Palm Sunday Mass at the Church of the Resurrection".
