Tamer Hosny Calls for Amendment to the Decision to Cancel LateNight Cinema Concerts

Khaberni - Artist Tamer Hosny joined his voice with the voice of producer Karim El Sobky, who demanded the revocation of the Egyptian Cabinet's decision to cancel late-night cinema screenings.

Tamer Hosny wrote on his official Facebook page: "My suggestion, if feasible, should be applied to all entities. The content of the post written by my colleague, producer Karim El Sobky, is in my view a valid suggestion for cinemas. I believe our esteemed ministry might study it and certainly will do the right thing because what's right is not always from our limited perspective alone. Surely, there are aspects we may not be aware of, which could benefit the country."

Tamer Hosny continued: "However, if this proposal is aligned with the state's goals, I hope it will be achieved, and my personal suggestion is that the decision could be applied to many places, not just cinemas or designated places that choose to close in the morning and others at night. All this coordination with the entities that see their work and livelihood more during the day or night will ensure everyone is satisfied. This, too, is from our limited perspective. Any decision bigger than us taken by the state must be respected, ensuring a hundred percent that it is in our best interest even if it requires some patience. All thanks, appreciation, and respect to our great Egyptian ministries."

Karim El Sobky Proposes Cancelling Morning Cinema Shows
Director Karim El Sobky had proposed cancelling the cinema shows at 10 AM, 1 PM, and 3 PM, opting instead for three peak time shows daily at 6 PM, 9 PM, and 1 AM after midnight, aiming to concentrate audience attendance at times achieving highest attendance. He confirmed that cinemas are currently sustaining significant losses from operating nearly empty halls, while still consuming electricity at the same rates and paying wages without achieving sufficient revenue, which leads to a decrease in average daily income and increased operational burdens.

Karim emphasized that saving cinemas means preserving a comprehensive cinematic industry that employs thousands of people both directly and indirectly, concluding his recommendation with the necessity to apply the proposal experimentally for a month, with an evaluation of results to decide on its general implementation.

Tamer Hosny recently hosted a Suhoor event at his private restaurant, gathering a large number of artists and stars from the Ramadan drama series to celebrate their success in the current drama season.
