Launch of the Jordanian Artificial Intelligence Season 2026

Khaberni  -  The “Jordanian Artificial Intelligence Season JAIS 2026” commenced in the capital Amman, organized by the Jordan Engineers Association, in a notable scene dominated by an advanced robot called “Mini Quill” who took on the role of the master of ceremonies, presenting the opening segments in fluent Arabic and interacting directly with the audience, symbolically indicating Jordan's entry into a new phase of practical engagement with artificial intelligence technologies.
This event reflects a national orientation towards establishing artificial intelligence as a main driver of economic development and institutional transformation, at a time when the pace of reliance on these technologies globally accelerates, becoming a partner in analysis and decision-making, rather than just a technical tool.
Eng. Abdullah Ghosheh, the head of the Jordan Engineers Association, affirmed that artificial intelligence represents a historic phase redefining concepts of work, production, and knowledge, emphasizing that the Association views this transformation as a strategic opportunity to enhance the competitiveness of Jordanian engineers and open new horizons for creativity and innovation.
Ghosheh introduced two main themes to maximize the benefits of artificial intelligence in Jordan, the first being integrating artificial intelligence with the energy sector, by employing it in managing and rationalizing consumption, predicting electricity demand, achieving balance between energy sources, and enhancing the efficiency of electrical networks and reducing losses. He noted that Jordan has made important strides in diversifying energy sources, with renewable energy contributing about 27% of total electricity, with plans to increase it to 31% by 2030, pointing out that the domestic sector accounts for about 45% of the consumption, which reinforces the need for smart applications in demand management.
The second theme focused on water and climate change, where he called for the use of artificial intelligence in managing water resources, maximizing benefits from rainfall, improving drainage systems, and reducing flood risks, thus enhancing Jordan’s ability to adapt to climate changes.
Ghosheh emphasized that artificial intelligence is no longer just a technical option, but a national necessity, highlighting the importance of developing the education and training system to equip engineers with future tools, and enhancing their ability to handle data and advanced technologies, alongside establishing ethical frameworks for using this technology.
In turn, Eng. Haitham Shaqrah, a member of the Jordan Engineers Association Council, described the season as a leading creative initiative at the level of Jordan and the region, affirming that artificial intelligence is no longer a luxury, but a fundamental requirement to enhance the strength and resilience of countries, urging engineers to engage in digital engineering pathways and benefit from specialized training programs.
Eng. Tamara Al-Khashman, head of the Young Electrical Engineers Committee, confirmed that the committee represents an active voluntary model to empower youth within the Association, noting that it has executed hundreds of scientific events and activities over the past four years, benefiting thousands of young engineers, in support of their professional journey and keeping up with digital transformations.
This season is the first of its kind in the kingdom, bringing together a group of experts, researchers, and decision-makers to discuss the latest applications of artificial intelligence and its impacts on sectors such as education, health, energy, water, industry, media, and government services.
It is expected that the season will witness a series of specialized events, including conferences, workshops, and discussion sessions, highlighting practical applications, ethical challenges, and legislative issues related to artificial intelligence, as well as showcasing leading international experiences.
The launch of this season comes at a time when the significance of artificial intelligence is increasing globally, positioning Jordan as a strategic opportunity to enhance its status as a regional innovation hub, based on its human competencies and digital infrastructure, in a path that confirms that the kingdom is an active partner in shaping the future of technology.
