Study Reveals Surprise About Eating Mushrooms During Pregnancy

Khaberni  - A recent Japanese study has stated that mothers consuming mushrooms during pregnancy may be linked to better behavior in children when they reach the age of five.

The study, published in the journal "Human Nutrition and Dietary Systems," concluded that consuming larger amounts of mushrooms during pregnancy could reduce children's problems in dealing with peers, and increase the likelihood of them acting in a friendly and cooperative manner by school age.

The study involved approximately 1200 mothers and children, and was conducted by a joint research team between the "Meiji" holding group, which varies its products between dairy and its products and dietary supplements and sweets and medicines and vaccines, and "Ehime" University. The study said, "Increasing mothers' consumption of mushrooms during pregnancy may be associated with a decrease in peer handling problems and improved social behaviors in children at the age of five."

The researchers pointed out that rowdy or inattentive children pose a challenge for parents, raising concerns about the child's ability to adapt to the school environment later.

They explained that eating mushrooms may have a protective effect on the development of children's behaviors, emphasizing the need for further studies to understand the mechanisms underlying this potential relationship.

The study relied on a detailed dietary assessment of mothers through a questionnaire, followed by a follow-up survey that included questions about emotional and behavioral problems such as hyperactivity and difficulties in dealing with peers, taking into account both dietary and non-dietary factors that might impact the outcomes, to ensure the accuracy of linking mushroom consumption to future behaviors of children.
