Khaberni - Kuwaiti writer Youssef Al-Omairi stated that Fouad Al-Hashem's case is now under the jurisdiction of the judiciary, following the statement issued by Egypt through the Ministry of State for Information.
During television statements on the program "Al-Basma" broadcast by the Egyptian satellite channel "Al-Shams 2", Al-Omairi, who holds the position of the head of the Kuwait House Museum for National Works and the founder of the "Gulf Love Egypt" association, said that the opinions of some writers or content creators on social media represent themselves, and do not represent their countries.
He referred to the presence of "discordant voices" everywhere, expressing his regret at the same time concerning some voices from Egypt, which also do not represent the Arab Republic of Egypt.
He emphasized that the honest and respectable Egyptian people cannot stoop to releasing abnormal content or words via social media.
He criticized the chaos on "social media" that allows some to tweet without knowledge or responsibility, asserting at the same time that the right to opinion is preserved and guaranteed for everyone, provided they abide by the limits of decency, respect, and morals which Arab peoples were raised on.
He continued: "Unfortunately, in social media, those who know and those who do not wake up from sleep and tweet, but you cannot find a Kuwaiti who hates Egypt at all, and the proof is that we established the Gulf Love Egypt institution. We harbor all love, appreciation, and respect for the Egyptian people and the Egyptian leadership, and I personally receive daily hundreds of calls from Egypt to check on Kuwait and Kuwaiti families. As for the discordant voices, they represent neither Egypt, Kuwait, nor the Gulf states."
He warned that the debate on "social media" only serves the enemies of the nation, stressing that Fouad Al-Hashem "bears all responsibility for what he writes".
The Ministry of State for Information in Egypt issued a strongly worded statement in response to an article by the so-called Fouad Al-Hashem, which contained severe insults to Egypt, its people, and Arab values.
The ministry stated in its declaration that "this person's fall into the cesspool of obscenities that he used towards Egypt and its people is unacceptable, a moral degradation before being a professional and media collapse, and it is an act that cannot be tolerated or ignored".
Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Egyptians Affairs, expressed his appreciation for the swift response of the Kuwaiti authorities to the Egyptian embassy's request in Kuwait to refer a memorandum to the Kuwaiti Attorney General regarding the offenses contained in the article.
