Details of Israeli Officer Leaking Timing of Strikes on Iran for Betting and Making Hundreds of Thousands in Profit

Khaberni - An Israeli court has revealed a provocative indictment against an Air Force officer of the rank of Major, accused of leaking top-secret information regarding the timing of Israeli strikes on Iran in June 2025.
The Israeli officer used this information to bet on the "Polymarket" online platform, making substantial profits with a partner amounting to about $244,000, in a case that shook security circles and exposed military operations to danger.
According to the indictment, the officer and his partner agreed on a meticulous plan: the officer would inform his partner of the timing of the secret attack, while the partner would place the bets on the electronic forecasting platform, agreeing to share the profits. It is alleged that the partner placed several bets predicting an Israeli military strike against Iran before July, using the leaked information from the officer, and increased the betting amount as the preparations advanced.

On the eve of the operation, the officer was at an airbase in southern Israel and attended a secret briefing on the planned strike. Despite being warned of the necessity to keep the information confidential and having signed a pledge not to disclose it, he immediately conveyed the details to his partner and urged him to increase his bets, noting that the platform allowed betting on the strike being carried out before midnight US time.

When the Israeli planes took off, the officer sent a message to his partner saying: "It's happening now". He then informed five friends that he had placed a bet based on information from a reserve officer, and warned them not to share the details of the strike "so we don’t go to jail". The two men won $162,000 from these bets, and agreed to share the profits after the officer returned from reserve duty.
The two continued to bet on security-related questions during the operation, such as whether Israel would declare the end of the operation in Iran by July, or whether the United States would carry out a military action there.

After the war ended on June 26, the partner transferred $74,680 in cryptocurrency to the officer. In September, the officer continued to transfer secret information to his partner after participating in a secret Israeli Air Force operation in Yemen, and they won about an additional $5,500.

In January, the officer shared information about an "escalation" at a site removed from the indictment, and warned his partner to stay alert, prompting the partner to bet on questions about Israel striking Iran by the end of January or March 2026. After a media report revealed an Israeli user winning large amounts through such bets, the two began to cancel bets related to Iran, changed their username, and deleted their messages.

The indictment confirmed that "providing information for financial gain about future operations of the Israeli Air Force for the purpose of betting on an open platform like Polymarket, could have jeopardized the mission, endangered the aircraft crews, and caused severe damage to national security."
