Amman Arab University Pharmacy Enhances Communication with Its Graduates with a Workshop on Pharmacovigilance and Mechanisms f

Khaberni - In light of Amman Arab University's commitment to enhancing sustainable communication with its graduates and supporting their career journey through continual learning programs, in additionً to raising students' awareness of modern concepts in the health sector, the College of Pharmacy "Pharmacovigilance: From Theoretical Concepts to Practical Reporting Mechanisms", in collaboration with the Career Guidance and Alumni Office (King Abdullah II Fund for Development) in the Deanship of Student Affairs, organized a free remote training workshop.

The workshop was presented by the pharmacist Islam Halman laboratory supervisor at the College of Pharmacy andwho holds a master's degree in Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs, where she reviewed a range of specialized scientific topics that covered the concept of pharmacovigilance (Pharmacovigilance)  , its history and global development, in additionً to highlighting its pivotal role in enhancing drug safety and protecting patients, as well as discussing the importance of pharmacovigilance in supporting the health system by monitoring drug side effects and analyzing them,whereas Halman showcased the recently introduced electronic reporting system for drug side effects, approved by the Jordanian Food and Drug Administration in cooperation with the World Health Organization, and demonstrated how to use and operate the application using a mobile phone, and the practical steps needed to fill out drug reports and send them correctly, emphasizing the importance of establishing a culture of reporting side effects among pharmacy students and graduates,as they are key partners in supporting the future pharmacovigilance system, indicating the significant role they can play in their various workplaces in raising community awareness about the importance of reporting and contributing to enhancing the safe use of medicines.

In this regard Professor Dr. Rana Abu Hweij Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University stressed that organizing such training workshops falls within the college's vision aimed at enhancing communication with its graduates and developing their practical skills, linking academic knowledge with modern professional applications,thuscontributing to the preparation of qualified pharmaceutical cadres equipped with scientific competence and professional awareness in the fields of drug safety and pharmacovigilance,highlighting that promoting the culture of reporting drug side effects is a fundamental pillar in protecting patient health and enhancing the quality of healthcare, confirmingthe college's ongoing efforts in organizing training programs and scientific activities that support professional development of its students and graduates and keep pace with developments in the health sector.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the participating graduates expressed their profound gratitude and appreciation to the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University for its continual commitment to maintaining communication with them after graduation, and for providing such quality training opportunities that contribute to developing their professional knowledge and keeping up with developments in the health sector,, they confirmed that such initiatives reflect the collegeand university's commitment to supporting its graduates and students academically and professionally, and enhance their belonging to their university and their role in serving the community and advancing the level of pharmaceutical practice.
