Khaberni - Media reports confirm that football shirt prices have seen a noticeable increase in recent years, which has sparked a wave of controversy among fans, especially with a price increase of about 20% since 2022.
Actu Foot account on X mentioned that buying original shirts now represents a financial burden on many fans, with the official version reaching about 160 euros, compared to 110 euros for lower quality versions.
He explained: "This rise has prompted a segment of youth, especially those aged between 15 and 18, to turn towards buying counterfeit shirts, with estimates indicating that about 20% of them prefer this option as a less costly alternative."
He added: "This reflects a change in consumer behavior, who have become more price-sensitive in the face of constant releases of new shirts."
He continued: "In this context, a fan expressed his dissatisfaction with the high prices, stating that buying just one shirt has become very costly, especially with the addition of printing costs which could further increase the price."
He mentioned that the continuous updates to shirt designs push fans to spend more if they want to keep up with the new releases, and explained that resorting to counterfeit shirts is no longer just an alternative option, but has become a practical solution for many, as it allows obtaining several shirts of acceptable quality in exchange for the price of one official shirt, which reflects the significant challenge that manufacturers face in maintaining fan loyalty amidst this price gap.
