The family of the late artist Abdel Halim Hafez announced that they have taken legal measures against Dr. Diaa Al-Awadi, following the circulation of a video on social media platforms which included criticisms and phrases that the family found offensive to the dark-skinned nightingale, which caused a broad wave of anger among his fans in Egypt and the Arab world.
The details of the incident go back to the spread of the video in which Diaa Al-Awadi appeared, leveling harsh criticisms at Abdel Halim Hafez, claiming that his romantic songs had a negative impact on entire generations.
These statements were met with broad rejection from the fans of the late artist, who defended his artistic status and impact on the Arab emotional spectrum.
In response, the family of Abdel Halim Hafez posted a statement on their Facebook account, in which they absolutely rejected what was mentioned in the video, emphasizing that they would not stoop to responding in the same manner, and that they would deal with the matter through legal routes only.
The family clarified that the purpose of these statements was to stir controversy and attract viewers at the expense of a deceased artist who enjoys great affection, confirming that the response will be through the law without descending to the level of trivial bickering.
They also revealed that they had already begun taking legal actions through the office of attorney Yasser Kantoush, who is handling the family's rights.
The circulated video triggered a significant reaction among Abdel Halim Hafez's fans, with many of them demanding a prompt investigation into the incident and accountability for the person behind the statements, especially given the artistic and humane status that the dark-skinned nightingale occupies in the memory of the Arab audience.
