Erdoğan All of humanity will pay the price for the senseless war in the region

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that the cost of the "senseless, illegal, and unnecessary" war ongoing in the region is not only borne by the parties involved but by all of humanity."

This was stated in a speech he gave during the "Turkey's Strategy in the World Economic Forum" meeting, which was held at the Turkish Presidential Office in Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul on Friday.

Erdoğan said that the cost of the senseless, illegal, and unnecessary war that has been deeply shaking the region for a month is not only borne by the parties involved but by all of humanity.

He added, "While there is a chance to find common ground through diplomacy and dialogue, as an international community, we all bear the burden of sabotaging these means," warning that "if the clashes do not end, the cost to be paid will escalate, and geographic distance will have no meaning at this stage."

Erdoğan pointed out that the whole world is feeling the negative effects of the ongoing war in the region on a wide scale, from energy markets to production, information technology, transportation, and trade networks.

The Turkish president emphasized that global risk assessments show the international system entering a phase that is more competitive and fragile, considering that the global economic system is threatened from several fronts at this new stage.

He highlighted that problems related to energy security and the erosion of supply chains and the international trade system, as well as protectionist policies, increase the fragility of economies, and that all these developments reduce the number of stable economies.

Since February 28 last year, Israel and the United States have waged war on Iran, which has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people, including prominent figures like the leader Ali Khamenei and security officials, while Tehran has responded by launching missiles and drones towards Israel.

Iran also targets what it claims are "American sites and interests" in Arab countries, although some of the attacks have resulted in casualties and injuries, as well as damage to civilian properties, which the targeted countries have condemned and urgently demanded to cease.
