Bolivia escapes Iraq trap and advances to face Iraq in World Cup playoff

Khaberni  - The Bolivian national team has qualified for the final of the global intercontinental playoff leading to the FIFA World Cup finals, scheduled in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in the summer of 2026, at the expense of the Suriname national team by defeating it (2-1).

Liam Van Khelderin put the Suriname national team in front with a goal scored in the 48th minute.

However, the Bolivian national team responded decisively by scoring two consecutive goals through its players: Moises Paniagua, and Miguel Terceros in the 72nd and 79th minutes (from a penalty) respectively.

The Bolivian national team succeeded in turning a one-goal deficit into a two-goal victory against their opponent.

Thus, the Bolivian national team has set a date in the final of the second path of the global intercontinental playoff (between the continents) qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, with its Iraqi counterpart early next Wednesday, at the Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe, Monterrey, Mexico.

The qualifier from the intercontinental playoff will play in Group Nine of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which also includes the teams from France, Senegal, and Norway.
