Khaberni - The CEO of Royal Jordanian, Samer Al-Majali, confirmed on Thursday that the Jordanian skies are safe for aviation, indicating no significant air closures have been recorded since the beginning of this month.
Al-Majali explained in his speech to "Al Mamlaka" that the company has witnessed a notable decline in travel bookings across its network, due to some countries closing their airspace, which directly reflected on the operation movement.
Al-Majali pointed out that continuing aviation operations during the war requires high costs, confirming that maintaining the operation of air transport from and to Jordan is a priority for the company.
He added that fuel prices have seen a significant increase, doubling from about 60 dollars before the crisis to nearly 120 dollars, leading to a noticeable increase in operational costs, clarifying that fuel price constitutes 35% of the total cost for airlines.
Al-Majali noted that the decrease in passenger traffic, together with the rise in costs, were two main factors influencing ticket prices, indicating that some prices have increased by up to 100% in the recent period.
