Riyadh An International Logistics Corridor Connecting the Ports of the Arabian Gulf with Jordan and Northern Saudi Arabia

Khaberni - Saudi Arabia announced on Thursday the launch of an international logistics corridor connecting the ports of the Arabian Gulf with Jordan and the northern regions of Saudi Arabia, according to the Saudi Press Agency "SPA".

The agency revealed the launch by the Saudi Railways "SAR" of an international logistics corridor through freight trains, connecting King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail, and Jubail Commercial Port with the Haditha border crossing, in a step that enhances direct connection with Jordan and northern Saudi Arabia and supports regional trade movement through a highly efficient land route.

"SAR" explained that launching the container transport service via the railway network from the ports of the Eastern Region to the Haditha crossing contributes to opening direct routes towards Jordan and the northern regions of Saudi Arabia, supporting the movement of exports and re-exports through a more efficient and reliable transportation system.

It pointed out that transport through this route enables customers to transfer their products from the ports of the Eastern Region to the Haditha crossing reaching Jordan and the northern regions of Saudi Arabia, as well as transporting them in the reverse direction to the ports of the Eastern Region through the same route, enhancing the flexibility of cargo movement and the integration of supply chains. It will contribute to reducing the travel duration of over (1700) kilometers to half the time compared with other land transport methods, in addition to a carrying capacity that exceeds (400) standard containers per train, enhancing the speed and efficiency of cargo transport.

"SAR" confirmed that this step contributes to creating a direct logistical impact, reflected in shortening trip times, removing thousands of trucks from the roads, which positively influences the preservation of infrastructure quality and raising safety levels, in addition to contributing to reducing carbon emissions.

The efforts of "SAR" are part of supporting the targets of Saudi Vision 2030, the national strategy for transport and logistics services, and enhancing the integration between different transport modes and improving logistic service efficiency.

It is worth mentioning that the Saudi Railways "SAR" manages an integrated network of railways extending more than (5,500) kilometers, offering through it passenger transport, cargo, and minerals shipping services. In 2025, it transported more than (14) million passengers and over (30) million tons of minerals and goods, enhancing transportation efficiency and connecting ports, logistics centers, and production areas across various regions of Saudi Arabia.
