Khaberni - A shocking incident was witnessed in the Sharqia governorate in Egypt, where a marital dispute between a newly married young couple led to mutual assault involving a knife, resulting in the husband sustaining cut wounds and about 50 surgical stitches.
The security forces in Sharqia Security Directorate received a report from a 19-year-old young man accusing his wife of assaulting him with a kitchen knife inside their home in Deirb Al-Balad, part of Deirb Najm Center, which resulted in a penetrating cut wound about 50 cm long on his arm and various other parts of the body, along with multiple abrasions.
A police force from Deirb Najm Police Station moved to Deirb Najm Central Hospital, where the injured was transferred to receive first aid and surgical treatment, and a medical source confirmed that the husband's condition is stable after necessary stitching.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had been recently married, as their wedding was only three months ago, and a verbal altercation about family disputes and the wife's refusal to prepare food quickly escalated into a physical fight.
The investigations clarified that in a moment of anger, the wife assaulted her husband with a knife, while the husband responded with physical assault according to the initial investigations.
The wife was arrested, and upon confrontation, she confessed to the incident, pointing to repeated family disputes. A report was filed with the incident under number 7638 for the year 2026 in Deirb Najm misdemeanor cases, and the Public Prosecution was informed, which commenced the investigations, and requested further inquiries by the police and a final medical report from the health inspector.
